Dr. Erin Murphy
Dr. Erin Murphy has made District 31 her home for the last twelve years (2008-present). She currently serves as the Superintendent (2019-present). Before that she was principal of Field Middle School for eleven years (2008-2019). She is privileged to work with a wonderful and diverse group of students and families and a professional and dedicated staff. Before becoming an administrator, she worked as a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher at Nichols Middle School in Evanston-Skokie School District 65 for nine years (1999-2008), as well as serving as the middle school social studies department chair for several years. During her time in Evanston, she earned her National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Social Studies in 2006. She began her career teaching inmates at the Cook County Boot Camp from 1997-2009. Dr. Murphy graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a degree in secondary education social studies in 1997. In 2004, she earned an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-Columbia. A C.A.S (Certificate of Advanced Study) in Educational Leadership from National Louis University followed in 2008. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from National Louis University in 2014. Dr. Murphy, originally from Evanston, currently resides in Northbrook with her five-year old son, Finn, a kindergarten student at Winkelman.
